The rule of thumb is, to maintain your weight you need 13-15 calories per pound of your body weigh. 13 is for inactive, 14 for average and 15 for very active. So, say, a man weighing 200 lbs. who is moderately active needs about 2800 calories to maintain his weight. He'll lose weight if you reduce that, so 2200 might be a good level to try for. 1200 as works well for women will just not be enough food for that guy! Best, Elizabeth |
